Mission City Community Network, Inc. Helping People Help Themselves

Mission Statement

To provide quality primary care and social services for the uninsured and low-income families in the community. An essential aspect of our mission is the eradication of the chronic disease and inadequate access to health care in poor and disenfranchised community.

Mission City Community Network, Inc.(MCCN) was founded in 1989 by Mr. Andrew Gold, as a California tax exempt non-profit, public benefit corporation qualified as charitable organization under 501(c)(3).  Our mission is to provide quality primary care and social services for the uninsured and low-income families in the community.  An essential aspect of our mission is the eradication of the chronic disease of inadequate access to health care in poor and disenfranchised communities.  It began as a social service referral provider, and in 1990 was licensed as a community health clinic by the State of California. In 1991, it became a Look-Alike Federally Qualified Health Center.  After 15 years, we are still here because the number of uninsured children and adults continues to grow, and no other solution for how to best provide (an pay for) health care to the uninsured has emerged. MCCN's services are provided in a culturally sensitive and competent manner and include services for pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, general medicine, case management, and health education.

About Us

We are governed by a board of directors comprised of professionals, community leaders and consumers interested in the provision of qulaity health care. Our physicians, nurses, mid-level providers and allied health care professionals work closely together to ensure that high-quality; comprehensive treatment is available to all our patients.

Service Population & Area

Mission City serves the low-income and uninsured population primarily in the San Fernando valley. Ninety-eight percent are below 200% of poverty level. MCCN serves members of the Healthy Families Program, CHDP Medi-Cal, and Medi-Cal Managed Care patients. Patients primarily from the surrounding areas around North Hills (Van Nuys, Panorama City, Pacoima, Mission Hills, Hollywood,Reseda). However, we also give service to patients throughout the San Fernando valley.

Mission City is comprehensive in its approach and has provided women's health care treatment services to a number of local community agencies, including substance abusing treatment centers. MCCN feels that it can expand these partnerships to service substance abusing pregnant women. The immediate and long term effects of prenatal drug exposutre are well documented. It is therefore critical that substance-abusing women are provided with optimal comprehensive obstetrical care during a period of time when they are most vulnerable and most likely to respond to intervention. MCCN will also include services to this subset of the population who have the least access to care and ironically are clearlhy most in need for intervention.
